Madison County introduces life-saving app that alerts bystanders to nearby emergencies

The app alerts citizens trained in hands-only CPR when someone in a nearby public place suffers sudden cardiac arrest. Introducing New Life-Saving Technology for Huntsville/Madison County

 

 

The Huntsville-Madison County 9-1-1 Center is pleased to join with local emergency medical first responders in providing PulsePoint for our community. PulsePoint is a Smartphone app that supports public safety agencies by empowering everyday citizens to provide life-saving assistance to victims of sudden cardiac arrest.

 

 

Users can now receive notification if someone nearby is having a cardiac emergency and may require CPR.  If the cardiac emergency is in a public place, the location-aware app will alert trained citizens within a geographic radius of the need for bystander CPR.  In addition to notifying the user’s phone, the app will also direct the citizen rescuer to the exact location of the closest publicly accessible Automated External Defibrillator (AED).
